The best part of a cottage.
Without the drive.

The best part wasn't the cottage. It was the moment when there wasn't anything else you were supposed to be doing.

I

Hot.

After the first löyly you're still thinking about tomorrow. After the third, mostly about löyly.

II

Cold.

The first second wipes out the sauna's heat. The second erases every future conversation you had been rehearsing.

III

Then nothing much.

You sit. Four minutes. Maybe seven. Nothing much happens.

Good to know

Before you go.

I've never been to a sauna. Is that a problem?

No. Sit on a lower bench, drink water, and leave the sauna at any time if you feel too hot or uncomfortable. Swimming is optional.

What do I bring?

Swimwear, a towel and a water bottle. Your own bench towel is a good extra. In winter, also winter swimming shoes or sandals.

Is there a shower?

The Espoo locations have outdoor rinsing showers, in use during the summer season, roughly from June to September — soaps cannot be used. Helsinki, Oulu and Tahko have an indoor shower year-round. Location details are shown before you book.

What's a shared sauna like?

Shared saunas are mixed. Everyone wears swimwear and follows the same rules. You can talk, stay quiet, or swim at your own pace.

Can I book a private sauna?

Yes, when a private sauna is offered for that session. The booking page shows the exact price.

When do I get the door codes?

By email, right after payment. At most locations one code opens both the changing room and the sauna; at Matinkylä and Kivenlahti the changing room has its own. Your booking confirmation says which applies to you.

Can I cancel?

Shared sauna bookings can be cancelled up to 2 hours before the start time. Private sauna bookings can be cancelled up to 12 hours before the start time. Saldo and sports voucher payments will be refunded immediately to your balance. Paytrail refunds will be visible on your payment method of choice within a few banking days.

What about winter?

Every location is open all year, and winter swimming is available at each one. Never enter the ice hole alone. Winter is arguably the point.

Us

Built for ourselves first.

Löylykontti began with nine friends standing cold on a swimming shore, all thinking the same thing: there should be a sauna here. So we built one.

Hot. Cold. Then nothing much.
